Rods Are Easily Racked and Kept Highly Accessible.

For use with either fresh or saltwater outfits, Smith Creek’s rod retention system uses a patented locking shock cord and eyelet setup. The above or below 2-way support system conveniently and safely secures rods and reels without damaging handles, tips, ferrules or lines. Multiple vehicle attachment options allow the fly rod racks to be located within easy reach. Rod Rack™ keeps rods inside the vehicle where they're safe and protected from wind, weather, bugs, dust and road grime. If your rods are longer than the vehicle interior, simply detach the tip section, fold it over and tension both the forward and rear shock cords to secure the rods.

Smith Creek's patented  SUV fishing rod holder can be used with SUVs, cross-overs, station wagons and vans that have over door grab handles, rear side windows or accessory hooks, and a rear door, hatchback or tailgate. It adjusts from 36"/92cm to 76"/193cm and is adaptable to truck bed canopies, boats, sheds and garages with *four eye bolts and a little imagination (*eye bolts not included).

If using the suction cup mounts, Rod Rack™ is not recommended for use with heavy big game fishing outfits. It's important not to position the suction cups over window heaters or antenna wires. Windows must be clean and dust free when suction cups are installed. Refer to the suction cup instruction sheet located in the suction cup box for installation guidelines.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How many fly fishing rods can Smith Creek Rod Rack™ hold at one time?

Smith Creek's Rod Rack™ holds up to 7 fly rod and reel combinations, keeping them conveniently stowed overhead and out of the way.

What direction should the shock cord loops face?

Rod Rack's straps can be mounted with the shock cord loops facing up or down. Either way works so it really depends on your preference.

What happens if I mount my suction cups on glass that has heater elements or antennas inside?

Mounting the suction cups over embedded wires in the glass may cause the cups to lose their grip when the wire heats up the glass.  Always clean the glass thoroughly before applying the suction cups.  Dirt or oils on the cup's contact surface will affect its grip strength.

How long are the fly rod mounting straps?

Rod Rack's fly fishing rod mounting straps are adjustable to accommodate anywhere from 36" to 76" (92~193 cm) across the vehicle's interior.  You can also connect the straps in sheds and garages using eyebolts (not included).

What are the round carabiners for?

You can use the optional round carabiners to attach the straps if your vehicle has accessory hooks at the back.  If mounting to grab handles, simply detach the buckles, feed the strap through the grab handle, clip the buckle in place and pull to tighten.

How should I secure the excess length of the nylon strap after installing the Rod Rack™ straps in my vehicle?

Your Rod Rack™ kit comes with several pieces of hook and loop strips.  After clipping the Rod Rack's strap buckles and cinching the straps to the desired tightness, neatly wind up the tail of the strap and secure it with the hook and loop strips.

What if my shock cords become worn from use over time?

Smith Creek offers a DIY repair kit that allows you to replace worn shock cords without any special tools.  Contact Customer Service for more information.  We also offer replacement male buckle tabs.  To protect your straps from unintended wear or damage, we recommend placing them inside the provided cloth storage bag when not in use.

How long is the Smith Creek Spent Rod Rack™ warrantied for?

Like all Smith Creek fly fishing gear, our Rod Rack™ has a one (1) year warranty against defects in material and workmanship.  If your Rod Rack™ fails during this period, please refer to our Warranty Section for more information.
